Gotta love weathermen

20090220

This is a single panel from a multi-day running comic about a movie caled “DISASTORM” and it is, might I say, hilarious. So if you have time, browse through those archives and check them all out.

How little we knew.

Things always turn out so different than you predict as a child. Remember what it was like dreaming of being 21 and free? Well then you get older and realize that freedom isn’t free. I’m not talking about the brave soldiers which have fought and died for your freedoms (unless you’re reading this from North Korea, then the soldiers fought and died for your lack of freedom… but then if you’re in North Korea you might not have the internet). I’m talking about having a job. When you’re finally out and can “have my own place, drive my own car, buy my own clothes.” you realize that… golly. This stuff is expensive. So then you work twice as many hours as you spent in school and barely have enough money to pay to do anything fun in all your free time.

I once wanted to live off Taco Bueno. I now eat at Taco Bueno at least four times a week. It isn’t as amazing as I thought it would be.

Wikipedia’s Guide to the Galaxy

Kindle is one step closer to my dream. Next step is making contact lenses that can be a semi-transparent screen with wireless access to your bluetooth. Then we can walk around being incredible smart (or at least appearing so) as we quote pages of information or instant news seemingly from the top of our heads. This, unfortunately, would probably only be cool if you were the only one with the special ability, otherwise you wouldn’t be impressing the ladies (of course if I think that quoting pages of information and the news impresses the ladies, then I might have actually stumbled onto my problem in said area). We’d also need a reliable Wikipedia, uneditable by trolls and written without bias but still containing the diverse information of Wikipedia… That might actually be a lot harder than getting a computer into your brain. But Kindle really is quite clever, but the buttons being on the side seem a little cumbersome. You want to be able to get cozy with a book, but you can’t do that with a Kindle because if you move your hands too much, you might end up on the next page.

And if you haven’t read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy… Well you need to get on that. It’s so witty it makes you feel witty just for reading it.

Conspiracy Theory

I’ve got a weak spot for the single frame comics. If you can put the whole story down so simply, then you deserve a cookie.

This reminds me of the whole joke about “We used to have an older brother, but then Mom got angry.”  Nobody would have liked Ken anyway ’cause three is company, four is a crowd.

Wiki-Wiki-What?

XKCD

Wikipedia defines humor as “something said out of the mouth of Kathy Griffin”… Need I say more? The way that XKCD goes about this is very funny indeed, and watch for that article to have over 7500 edits in a day, therefore crashing wikipedia’s servers, and thusly causing a vast majority of freshman comp papers to remain unwritten. Oh the humanity!
